Manufacturing Productivity & Innovation Manager

Description

Position tasks and responsibilities:

  • Identify Manufacturing Cost improvements through direct Plant Floor interactions. Develop ideas for improvements with the assistance of our Joint Venture partners and implement the solutions. Cost savings solutions and ideas to be communicated through Global Forums for read across and direct Global Plant comparisons.
  • Lead discussions and initiatives for Cost/Investment reduction, Complexity and Base Engineering Content reduction, lean material strategies, Ergo and others assuring that the Total Enterprise Cost and Global Standard mandates are maintained.
  • Be the GM Voice of Innovation. Identify & Drive for change on China technological developments on People, Bill of process, Bill of Equipment and Automation advancements & Technologies (both Software & Hardware).
  • Support GM North America with alignment on Innovation Priority items from the China region supporting GM's Factory of the Future.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competencies:

    Knowledge:

    A thorough knowledge of best practice Business, Manufacturing and Quality principles.

    Skills:

    Proven record of successful administration and team building at a high level to achieve the Company's objectives. Action oriented with vision and clarity of purpose.

    Experience/Education:

  • Bachelors/Master's degree Engineering, Commerce or Business
  • A minimum 8 years' experience in Engineering and/or Manufacturing and Assembly operations.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to build effective teams, work cross-functionally and effectively influence without direct authority.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues,
  • Strong ability to coach / teach others
  • Strong Ability to promote collaborative discussions and cost/investment down proposals
  • Experienced in working with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Chinese speaker and embedded in the culture
