Position requires an employee to be onsite on a full-time basis.

The Role:

Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products!

The Manufacturing Engineer will be expected to to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. Supports the development of manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence, and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary to produce parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative are exercised.

What You'll Do:

  • Defining the Manufacturing Process(es)
  • Ensure efficient material flow within RESS Assembly
  • Assisting with the design, construction, integration, plant installation, launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for production
  • Problem-solve (analyze data, determine root causes, develop implementation plans) and resolve issues which are affecting RESS metrics and document appropriately
  • Working with the team to develop and test advanced process technology.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with employees, union, management, and suppliers
  • Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
  • Understand and implement PFMEA, Process Control Plans, manufacturing processes, and management systems as they relate to production operations
  • Support implementation of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) and Business Plan Deployment (BPD) activities

    Your Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 1 year of Automotive Manufacturing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering related field
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems

  • 2 or more years as a Process Engineer within Automotive Manufacturing
