Manufacturing Engineering - Battery Assembly Supervisor


HYBRID: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week.

The Role

The Manufacturing Engineering Battery Pack Assembly team needs a first-level supervisor for a manufacturing engineering team who is responsible for the design, build, and delivery of manufacturing equipment and processes across multiple sites. You will be working both in a centralized engineering and factory focused environment where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is needed as well as a high level of independent judgment. Your team collaborates with many teams including Planning, other Manufacturing Engineering teams, OEMs, Product Engineering, and Factory Focused groups, so being able to establish strong relationships is a must.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Guiding your team's workload priorities to enable each employee to accomplish their responsibilities while maintaining a work-life balance.

  • Supporting your team through the key phases of their projects which may include early process development work, process and equipment definition for OEMs, oversight of the design and build of process and equipment at the OEM, and then support of the process and equipment through plant execution and launch.

  • Providing technical direction to team members as necessary as they oversee multiple external vendor resources.

  • Providing technical direction to and coordination of less experienced process engineering team members

  • You will need to perform the People Leader responsibilities to support your direct reports and these duties include:

  • CAP goal setting as well as mid-year and year-end reviews.

  • Managing results and evaluating/coaching individual performance

  • Compensation planning and communication

  • Training and development planning

  • Expense Reporting approvals

  • MyTime approvals

  • You will need to collaborate with the other supervisors on the Battery Assembly Team to forecast and manage budget and travel targets, as well as vacation planning.

  • You will need to collaborate with the other supervisors on the Battery Assembly Team's organizational hierarchy.

  • You will need to build strong and collaborative relationships with the many other teams that the Battery Assembly team either supports or interacts with during the implementation of the projects.

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.

  • You will need at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, either centralized or factory focused to be considered.

  • What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Technically oriented Factory Focused experiences are desirable.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the design for manufacturability is a bonus.

  • In depth experience with battery and /or advanced propulsion systems is highly desirable.

  • Successful completion of large-scale projects as a Lead Process Engineer is desirable.

  • People leader experiences are desirable.
