Overview

Canoo has needs for qualified mechanical technician to continually monitor production and act accordingly to maintain optimal equipment utilization. The technician will perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, ensures compliance with engineering specifications and/or codes.

Apply reliability and maintainability data to determine proactive improvements to production equipment. As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will perform preventive/planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic system, cylinders and valves, air compressors and responsible for plant facility equipment. Use software programs and testing equipment to diagnose malfunctions.

Responsibilities
  • Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment
  • Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions in equipment and related components, diagnosing and correcting the problems quickly to avoid production delays
  • Perform electrical preventative and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment
  • Promote teamwork and show a willingness to work with other departments
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
  • Provide reporting on issues found and corrected
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks for makeup air units, supply and exhaust fans (building systems)
  • Fabricate and install hangers, straps, brackets, fixtures, anchors or other supports used in holding of supporting pipe, hose and tubing (after initial installation)
  • Repair and install metal guarding (after initial installation)
  • Repair and maintain all exhaust equipment used on production machines to include equipment hoods, ducts, stacks, blowers, louvers, squirrel cages, motor, belts, pulleys, bearings, shafts, and impellers (after initial Install and remove motors of one horsepower and larger. Unless covered by supplier contract or needs rigging Install and replace ceiling tiles (after initial installation)
  • Install, maintain, and repair valves and regulators for control of vacuum, air, water, hydraulics and gasses
  • Install, maintain, and repair piping, tubing, hosing, pumps, hose reels, bladders, drinking fountains, pneumatic cylinders, air motors, lubricators, gas or fluid filters, lubricators, strainers, counter balancers, and separators.
  • Remove, repair and install pumps as required
  • Maintain and repair all track, slides, shuttles, turntables, and conveyors
  • Maintain drive belts, pulleys, drive chains, sprockets, bearings and drive couplings.
  • Install machine bases, including fabrication and installing reinforcement rods, anchor bolts, and pad removal and repair (after initial installation).
  • Perform welding, burning and cutting duties, as directed.
  • Repair production machine tool equipment in tool room; including maintaining and replacing chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, belts, clutches, and gears as needed Repair pneumatic tools, air power hand tools to include grinders, drills, rivet guns, and impacts (if not covered under supplier service or warranty)
  • Will hang signs on production floor.
  • Assist or be assisted by other trades as particular skills are required
  • Perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) on problems found and look for ways to eliminate the source of failure
  • Qualifications
  • S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in t a Building trade or six (6) years of documented experience as a Building tradesperson (notarized documentation required)
  • Strong background in mechanical, fluid power troubleshooting and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of machine maintenance practices.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete the Canoo hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments and a background check
  • Strong Safety knowledge and awareness.
  • Excellent Multitasking skills with ability to prioritize.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice
  • Must be able so pass an aptitude test administered by Canoo or an outside entity
  • Preferred Experience

  • 10 years plus experience working as a mechanical tradesman in an industrial setting, such as automotive.
  • Technical degree
  • Also adept in electrical repairs
