    About This Opportunity

    This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to focus their efforts on growing their profile in teaching, research and service and engagement. This opportunity exists as a fixed term role arising from the appointment of Professor Karen Healy to Head of School, School of Nursing Midwifery and Social Work for a five-year term.

    We are ideally seeking a candidate with a track record in the field family and domestic violence prevention and/or intervention, child and family social work, direct practice and research methods and skills. The successful candidate will be appointed at either a Level B or Level C, commensurate with experience.

    Key responsibilities at Level B will include:

    A Lecturer will focus their efforts on growing their profile in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research and service and engagement. At this level the incumbent may coordinate or lead the activities of other staff and will usually contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students.

    As a teaching and research academic at level B the incumbent is expected to achieve national recognition in their field of research.

    Key responsibilities at Level C will include:

    A Senior Lecturer will focus their efforts on leveraging their established record of achievement in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research and service and engagement. At this level the incumbent may coordinate or lead the activities of other staff and is expected to have an active and effective record of supervising Higher Degree by Research students successfully to completion as principal supervisor. As a teaching and research academic at level C the incumbent is expected to have achieved national recognition and have a developing international profile in their field of research.

    This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to December 2028.

    At Academic level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201 - $128,201, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $126,595 - $149,996 annually.

    At Academic level C, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201 - $1152,202, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $154,676 - $178,076 annually.

    As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

    About You

    Level B

    Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant field (social work or cognate field)

    Additionally, you will demonstrate:

  • A growing profile in teaching and research in the discipline area. Preference will be given to applicants with a track record in the field family and domestic violence prevention and/ or intervention, child and family social work, direct practice, and research skills.

  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding.

  • Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.

  • Experience in course coordination and contribution to the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.

  • Interest in engaging with digital learning technologies to enhance student access and experience of learning opportunities.

  • A growing record, or capacity to develop a record, of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.

  • Level C

  • Completion of a PhD in Social Work or cognate discipline.

  • An established profile in teaching and research in the discipline area. Preference will be given to applicants with a track record in the field family and domestic violence prevention and/ or intervention, child and family social work, direct practice, and research skills.

  • National recognition in the area of expertise, with an internationally developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journal and presenting at conferences.

  • A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding.

  • Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.

  • A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.

  • Interest in engaging with digital learning technologies to enhance student access and experience of learning opportunities.

  • A solid record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

  • A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.
