The University seeks a highly motivated Animal Scientist to join the team to support delivery of a variety of Animal related courses. Courses are taught at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level at the University which can be viewed on the University web site. This post will also likely involve some collaboration in the delivery of the Veterinary Medicine programme within the Harper and Keele Veterinary School. The successful applicant will also be expected to be research active within the field of Animal health/Welfare/Behaviour and to be REF submittable. Research in the area of precision livestock farming will be especially welcomed. This post is a permanent, Teaching and Research full-time position.

The successful candidate will be joining the university at an exciting time with a new suite of courses commencing delivery in September 2024 and a new Research strategy focusing on the next REF in 20278. Example broad subject areas where contribution to, and development of, teaching and learning would be required, but not exclusively are as follows:

• Animal health

• Animal Behaviour and welfare

• Precision Livestock

• Animal management and handling

• Laboratory Practice

There are a variety of sports clubs that students can join including rugby, shooting, football, hockey, fencing, netball, motorsport and many others.

The university has exchange programmes with institutions in America, New Zealand, Japan and the EU. Students must achieve at least a 60 per cent pass rate in the first year to be able to study abroad for six months during the placement year.
