The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to recruit Lecturers to undertake high quality research and teaching, with expertise falling within the solid mechanics or thermo-fluids disciplines.
Appointees will have a PhD and a developing research track record, and will be expected to publish high-quality research papers, supervise postgraduate research students, and have the potential to obtain significant external research funding. You will need to be able to contribute to one or more of our priority research areas: advanced manufacturing (including robotics, control, data and design), energy (generation, transmission and storage, including future fuels), net zero transport, advanced materials, biosensors / biomedical engineering, sustainability and climate change adaptation.
Teaching is expected to particularly support our well-established and highly successful Mechanical Engineering MEng undergraduate degree programmes, including our Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing and Management, and Integrated Design Engineering degrees where appropriate. These degrees have an exceptional reputation built on industry-linked teaching, rigorous academic standards, placement-provision, an engineering design focus, and graduate employability. Teaching will be expected in one or more of the following areas: engineering statics, engineering dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics. As well as class teaching, you will be expected to fully participate in supervising students undertaking significant individual and group projects encompassing research or design activities.
