The Opportunity
Join our team as a Lead Service Technician at the Animal Research Laboratory (ARL) and play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our facility. This position will oversee a range of essential services that directly impact the welfare of our research animals. Your responsibilities include the coordination of services/maintenance of specialised machinery and ensuring the timely preparation of animal boxes, all geared towards supporting our dedicated animal technicians in their mission to promote animal welfare.
One of your key responsibilities will be implementing an ongoing maintenance program for specialised machinery like autoclaves, box washers, and biological safety cabinets and your expertise will help us maintain optimal operation. Additionally, your role involves supervising service support staff and efficiently managing incoming goods and storage areas to guarantee a continuous supply of essential materials. With your administration skills and experience, you'll coordinate processes and systems effectively, ensuring the highest standards are met.
To excel in this role, you should have a diploma level qualification with relevant work related experience; or relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience. Your familiarity with mechanical equipment and your ability to lead and supervise a team will be invaluable in this position.
