Lead Analyst (BI Data Development)

As part of the Analytics Operations department that supports Epsilon's Digital Media Solutions practice, the Business Intelligence team curates our reporting platform by designing, building and maintaining report visualizations using Tableau. As a Senior Analyst you will have the opportunity to work with a broad variety of products and teams throughout Epsilon to define business requirements and develop sustainable and automated data pipelines to feed these reports. Utilizing Greenplum and PostgreSQL you will prepare datasets at scale using efficient SQL, while working closely with the Data Warehouse Engineering team and Tableau Visualization Design team to create enterprise reporting for both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate should possess a keen attention to detail and a passion for discussing and solving complex technical problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal clients and other team members to translate business problems into reporting requirements
  • Identify key business metrics measurements and develop methods to represent data in support of the measurements
  • Develop high quality SQL code at scale to support reporting business requirements and enhance existing SQL code by identifying efficiencies and/or automation opportunities
  • Troubleshoot reporting issues by diving into raw data and pursuing solutions
  • Participate in cross-functional teams (platform, data-warehouse, Engineering, etc.) to guide development efforts and communicate technical information with teams of varying technical ability
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (computer science, economics, mathematics, statistics, or other technically related field)
  • 5+ years of hands-on industry experience building SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, views
  • Experience with query optimization and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with relational data modeling
  • Able to work directly with end users to ensure results meet their goals and expectations
  • Sound communication skills and desire to work in cross-functional groups
  • Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with the digital advertising industry (audience targeting, campaign optimization)
  • Familiarity with Agile process management
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, etc.) a plus
