Performs skilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of structures, equipment and articles of wood; performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications

Education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade. Journeyman Certification from the US Department of Labor or equivalent. Possession of a valid Michigan Operator's License. Ability to work from blueprints. Ability to work from ladders and scaffolding. Demonstrated ability to follow and/or interpret oral or written directions. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image. Ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job.

Preferred Qualifications Duties & Responsibilities

Performs general carpentry work from blueprints or sketches. Makes alterations and repairs to University buildings. Installs, changes or removes partitions, doors and windows. Installs, replaces and repairs building hardware. Operates power tools. Estimates materials and supplies needed for each job. Keeps necessary records as required. Requests supplies and equipment as required. Performs all other duties as assigned.
