RMIT is establishing several new roles that accelerate the translation of its research impact. These seven positions will support the establishment of the RMIT pre seed fund established in partnership with breakthrough Victoria as part of a major uplift of the innovation ecosystem.
About the Role
The role will report to the Investment Manager, as part of the new capability to fast-track innovation translation. As part of an expanded IP and Commercialisation team focussed on translation of early-stage commercialisation and new venturesstart-ups, this role will support investment and analysis processes to guide assessment of high-quality opportunities.

As a team member you will be required to grow your skills, insights and expertise in rapidly evolving technology market sectors and work across a range of technology platforms. Your communication and stakeholder management skills will be important to ensure timely and relevant updates and effective input to the assessments and analysis of new opportunities. This will be a very dynamic environment and the successful applicant will be required to be flexible and agile in competing work demands and utilise sound judgment.

About You
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
Experience in start-ups, entrepreneurship, investments and financial analysis; a passion for research and learning.
6+ months in a similar investment analyst role with experience in market research, analysis and related support.
Strong proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly excel and PowerPoint or similar.
Strong communication skills.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
A team player, with proven ability to collaborate and deliver results in a complex organisation and/or a university environment.
Self-motivation, a proactive action-oriented approach and a strong work ethic. A good sense of humour and desire to get ‘stuck in'.
A curious and inquisitive nature, comfortable with dynamic work environments.

The RMIT x Breakthrough Victoria Pre-Seed Fund
The RMIT x Breakthrough Victoria Pre-Seed Fund, (the Fund) is part of the skills and funding support provided by RMIT to accelerate translation of our research and innovation.
The Fund has been established in partnership with Breakthrough Victoria. Breakthrough Victoria Pty Ltd has been established to manage the Victorian Government's landmark $2 billion Breakthrough Victoria Fund.
The Fund between RMIT and Breakthrough Victoria will provide funding for early-stage research, ideas and new technologies and will facilitate access to university networks and mentoring to create seed-fund-ready companies. Up to 20% of this funding can be invested into social purpose ventures.
The resources will be dedicated to the local start-up ecosystem to develop homegrown talents. The fund will drive the commercialisation of intellectual property (IP) by providing the right conditions for the growth of existing businesses and innovation precincts.
