As part of the Curriculum Design and Technology department (CDT), the Instructional Designer (ID), will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to support teaching, learning, and scholarship through learning design and the use of technology. The ID will collaborate with faculty members (subject matter experts) to enable transformation of course materials into new formats and technology platforms. The ID must be well versed in current instructional/educational technology and will know how to utilize all forms of technology to enhance curriculum and the learning experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following functions: • Collaborate with faculty members to create robust, highly engaging educational experiences by recommending design, technology, and delivery options. • Review course content and assignments to ensure high instructional quality, utilization of a variety of learning methods and technologies, opportunities for active student-faculty engagement, and appropriate support resources for student success. • Ensure that course objectives, content, and materials meet University standards and instructional best practices. • Work with academic leadership to coordinate process of updating courses due to new text editions, problems identified in courses, and updated course content. • Create and maintain course templates in the LMS. • Provide technical support to faculty and students. • Develop training materials and information for instructors to improve their use and effectiveness of instructional technology in the learning environment. • Maintain currency in emerging instructional technologies to improve the delivery of educational courses, programs, and/or products.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Must exhibit an enthusiastic and maturing Christian faith and commitment to the evangelical mission of the university. • Must model LeTourneau's concept of faith, learning, and work as a holistic integration. • Bachelor's degree (master's preferred) ideally in a related are such as curriculum, instructional technology, education, or computer science. • Prior experience in instructional design, instructional technology, or curriculum development. • Understanding of how to adapt instructional content or delivery methods for different levels and types of learners. • Expertise with Canvas required; knowledge of several LMS platforms preferred. • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products. • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and problem solving skills. • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail.
