Our Information and Library Services Directorate delivers award winning IT services and support, library, academic and digital skills and learning enhancement to staff and students across the university. The Information Security team is growing and there is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested and passionate about Information Security and associated compliance matters to join the team. You will play a key role in ensuring that the University's information security program is aligned with industry best practices, legal and regulatory requirements, organisational policies, and the University's overall risk management strategy.
You will contribute to the maintenance and continual improvement of the Information Security Management System (ISMS) in accordance with the ISO27001 standard and will undertake regular internal audits to support the certification. This is a varied role that will provide the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of information security initiatives including the development of policies and procedures, risk management, incident management, third-party security assessments and security awareness training. You will also be a point of contact in respect of all information security and compliance related matters. As a key contributor to information security in the University you will also work with colleagues across the University to encourage good practice and foster a positive “security by design” culture.
The right candidate will possess demonstrable information technology experience within a medium to large sized organisation. You will have a solid understanding of information security principles, best practices and emerging threats and should be familiar with ISO/IEC 27001, along with a relevant degree or equivalent experiential learning within a relevant discipline. Whilst a good overarching technical understanding is important, the ideal candidate will be passionate about information security with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to convey complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
