UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) and the University of Vermont Health Network seeks an academic hematopathologist in the Division of Laboratory Medicine. This is a full-time position with a faculty appointment on the Clinical Scholar Pathway (non-tenure) at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank as appropriate based on previous experience and academic rank. The successful candidate will work in the Division of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Vermont Medical Center as part of the UVM Health Network. The applicant must be board certified in Clinical Pathology and/or Anatomic Pathology, and Hematopathology. Strong diagnostic skills are essential and post-fellowship clinical and administrative experience is preferred. Our hematopathologists review approximately 600 bone marrow biopsies, 600 tissue specimens, 2200 flow cytometry cases, and 2100 peripheral blood smears per year. The candidate should possess strong leadership skills and experience, to: 1) work collaboratively with medical directors of hematology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and genomic medicine; 2) work closely with Laboratory Medicine operations teams to provide medical direction for quality improvement initiatives across the hospital and the UVM Health Network; and 3) collaborate with the director of the hematopathology fellowship program.

The UVM Health Network spans the academic medical center and five community hospitals. The candidate should be an enthusiastic teacher and have scholarly interests and accomplishments in clinical, translational and/or health services research. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides academic effort for an initial 3 years allowing our new faculty to develop scholarly and educational activities aligned with their interests.
