Description

Coordinates, maintains and promotes the food service sanitation inspection program for the University of Houston. Ensures the university is in compliance with city and state sanitation rules and regulations. Job Duties

  • Conducts routine and permitting inspections, re-inspections and surveys of all university food establishments according to an established program and schedule, and ensures compliance with city and state sanitation rules and regulations.
  • Oversees new construction and renovations of university food establishments, including reviewing and providing input on construction/renovation plans.
  • Conducts on-site compliance inspections of events held on University grounds.
  • Investigates campus complaints of food-borne illness, food sanitation and safety. Provides assistance and information to city and state agencies on investigations findings.
  • Coordinates Temporary Food Dealers Program including permits and inspections.
  • Reviews food vending contracts to ensure compliance with food service sanitation rules and regulations and makes recommendations.
  • Inspects all campus facilities and ground for general safety hazards.
  • Prepares and submits reports, with appropriate documentation of food sanitation findings, safety inspections and makes recommendations.
  • Consults with faculty, staff, students, and vendors in matters concerning food sanitation. Develops and provide training classes on food sanitation and safety to campus; including contracted food service vendors. Serves as member of the emergency response team and assists in maintaining the readiness of the associated equipment. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Bachelors and 1 year experience

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

    Salary: 3,881.00 - 5,047.00
