Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

The Student Administration Service (SAS) at the University of Hertfordshire is looking to appoint a new Head of Student Administration within its Student Operation division. The role is suitable for someone already working within Higher or Further Education looking for the next step in their career. A positive and enthusiastic attitude is important as is the ability to manage a large team and a large portfolio of activity.
The role will be based at the de Havilland campus in Hatfield. The Head of SAS will work alongside the Hertfordshire Business School and the Schools of Law and Education to deliver a positive and comprehensive service to all stakeholders.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with the other Heads of Student Administration and their Deputies, the Head of SAS is responsible for the overall operational management and administration within their area of responsibility in the Student Administration hub. The Head will need to ensure a consistent and stable service is delivered where the student experience is at the centre of decision-making. Data quality and the assurance that University policies and regulations are being adhered to is integral to the role.
The Head will act as an Account Manager to their designated Schools which will include attending and contributing to meetings, delivering briefings and finding resolutions to issues.
The Head is expected to bring expertise and understanding of Higher Education administration and will be expected to take the lead on projects as well as the review, development and implementation of new processes and policies. They will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the strategic aims of the Student Administration Service.
They will encourage a culture of student focused service excellence, flexibility and demonstrate a willingness to assist colleagues in the Hub and across Academic Registry.
Skill and experience required
It is critical that the Head of SAS has demonstrable administrative experience in a large, dynamic organisation and experience of managing a large team. Experience of interpreting and applying complex University and Professional Body regulations is a must as is the ability to be proactive and manage conflicting priorities.
A willingness to be flexible in time and in workload to support effective team working, and to facilitate seamless customer service is essential. The postholder will need to demonstrate the ability to multi-task whilst also ensuring accuracy. Strong IT skills especially those needed for data analysis and report writing are vital. Proven communication skills to a variety of stakeholders are necessary as is evidence of being able to handle situations with tact and diplomacy.
Qualifications required
You will have a minimum of a degree or hold an equivalent professional qualification or have significant professional work experience.
