The Head Coach will be responsible for the organization, management, and operation of the baseball program within the policies of SMSU, the NSIC, and the NCAA. Areas of focus will include, but not be limited to, recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, community relations, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, and ensuring compliance with University, conference and NCAA regulations. Fundraising, camp coordination, and/or other assignments that reflect the expertise of the candidate are expected. The Head Coach may be assigned additional department duties (i.e. teaching duties, game management duties) as part of the position's responsibilities based on area of study and previous experience. The Head Coach will be expected to promote and support both the university and athletic department's mission and goals. The Head Coach will also represent the university and department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree
· Three years collegiate coaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
· Master's Degree
· Head coaching experience
· Head coaching experience at the NCAA level
· Experience with and knowledge of NCAA and NSIC compliance policies and procedures
· Successful collegiate recruiting record
· Collegiate and/or professional baseball playing experience
· Demonstrated fundraising experience
· Camp coordination and game management experience · Ability to communicate effectively
