Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
As a Group Leader-Pre Production Operations , you will be responsible for directly leading an hourly engineering skilled work group in pre-production manufacturing department (Body Shop, General Assembly or Machining, Tooling & Stamping). Expectations are to engage the highly skilled teams in a collaborative work environment that supports vehicle development and validation and through early learnings to support flawless vehicle launches. Expectations also include managing the department work schedule and prioritizing the workload based on concrete deliverables in a dynamic environment. Requires a high level of people leadership and frequent interaction with other stakeholders in the Product Engineering Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership to team members during the vehicle, product and process validation phases.
Lead projects and teams with accountability for results.
Support team members in creating standardized work vehicle build processes that will be used in the manufacturing plants.
Support the integration and collaboration of PPO teams, quality teams, manufacturing launch teams, program and product engineering teams to support launch excellence.
Support the enterprise and coach Team Leaders on TIP, GMS and BIQ4 initiatives.
Track / chart all team performance metrics to SPQRCE goals & scorecard.
Maintain good working relationships with peers, hourly employees, union, management, all Product Engineering stakeholders.
Enforce safe work practices with the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, health & safety, and housekeeping.
Required Skills
Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
Experience supervising employees in a union environment.
Experience supervising employees in a warehousing/ manufacturing/ distribution environment.
Knowledge of warehousing/manufacturing/distribution processes and procedure.
Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Word, typing, email etc.)
Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts
Knowledge of basic math.
High level oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict.
High level analytical ability where problems are complex.
High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, motivate employees and elicit work output.
