The Role:

GM Defense is looking for an Experienced Data Management Lead to oversee the implementation and maintenance of data management practices for an SAP project. The Data Management Lead will be responsible for ensuring that data is effectively and efficiently managed throughout the project lifecycle. Tasks will be performed to capture a preliminary assessment of the source data and creation of planning documents to formally establish migration scope, requirements, approach, and strategy. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of data management principles and experience working in SAP projects.

What You'll Do:

Develop and implement data management strategies for the project,

including data governance, data quality, data integration, and data security.

  • Establish a data plan in concert with the overall Project Plan and track to that plan throughout the life of the Project. This would include establishing milestones for data extract, transform, load, and validate
  • Coordinate Data Migration cycles required to meet project timeline
  • Support development of data architecture, including data models and data flows
  • Support data assessment and mapping activities, including the underlying migration framework to extract, transform, validate, enrich, and load the legacy source data
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Defines legacy system data extract and mapping requirements
  • Monitor data performance and proactively identify and address data quality issues
  • Lead coordination of data migration activities from legacy systems to SAP. Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to identify and prioritize data requirements
  • Define requirements for data security and privacy policies and procedures
  • Establish data validation guidelines and educate stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and training to project team members on data management best practices, including data migration activities and validation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data-related questions and issues
  • Develop, implement and sustain GM Defense core system data governance operational model as part of COE

  • Data Governance Strategy Development: Develop and implement an overall data governance strategy for GM Defense core systems, including defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities for data management activities.
  • Policy and Procedure Formulation: Establish and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability. This includes data privacy and protection rules, data lifecycle management, and data quality assurance.
  • Data Stewardship: Oversee data stewardship activities, ensuring that data stewards understand their roles and responsibilities, and that they follow data governance policies and procedures.
  • Data Quality Management: Develop and implement data quality metrics and controls to measure and improve the quality of data in the ERP systems.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, such as IT, Business Intelligence, and various business units, to promote data governance principles and practices. Maintain open lines of communication to ensure data governance goals are understood and supported across the organization.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to improve understanding and adherence to data governance principles and practices across the organization.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Regularly monitor compliance with data governance policies and procedures, and address non-compliance issues as necessary.
  • Data Governance Software Tools: Utilize data governance software tools to monitor, control, and improve data quality.
  • ERP Data Change Management: Provide subject matter expertise and coordinate data changes related to future business process changes impacting ERP master data
  • Additional Description

    What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience ranging in project management, data governance, and ERP implementation
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance practices
  • Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.

    Nice to Have:

  • MBA degree
  • Prior experience in ERP / S/4HANA implementations
  • General understanding of existing GM Defense / GM LLC process areas (e.g. Record to Report, Forecast to Plan/Plan to Produce, Source to Pay, Offer to Cash)
  • Engagement management experience as well as business, practice, and people development
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, data governance, and data quality best practices
  • Experience with data modeling and data integration tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables
  • Experience with data security and privacy regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with data migration activities from legacy systems to SAP
