Fuel Cell Execution Manufacturing Engineer


On-site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

The Role

Responsible for the execution of the Fuel Cell and/or other Global Propulsion Systems (GPS) programs. The Execution Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the installation, debug, and Production Approval Process (PPAP) of machining and assembly equipment. In this role, they will be working closely with the execution team, Engineering Group Manager (EGM) teams, construction team, local safety, focus factory engineers, and the Launch team to coordinate the installation, debug, runoff, PPAP, and Launch Deliverables completion for this program at Brownstown Assembly. This position also supports the Joint Venture with Honda.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Support a strong Safety-first culture.

  • Liaison between the product engineering team and the manufacturing team through installation, integration, debug and launch of high-quality product.

  • Provide technical direction and oversight to outside vendors (including contractors and OEM's).

  • Manage and drive OEM through Simultaneous Engineering (SE), build and acceptance of manufacturing systems.

  • Implement a process at the manufacturing site that meets all technical requirements in the Statement of Requirements (SOR) and Launch Deliverables.

  • Deliver a process system that meets all PPAP requirements.

  • Work towards continuous improvement on processes that are new and not always well understood.

  • Collaborate with the Process Engineering team to develop process improvements that will be written into the SOR for future projects.

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to implement product changes that affect manufacturing and manufacturing equipment.

  • Support the manufacturing team for all production readiness activities.

  • Ensure all design aspects are addressed to meet key program milestones and timing.

  • Facilitate / support the change management process.

  • Resolve issues across Integration teams.

  • Problem Resolution Tracking System/Issue Resolution prioritization and follow up.

  • Development of necessary plant documentation (work instructions, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), etc.).

  • Special projects.

  • Support Cost reduction initiatives.

  • Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products.

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.

  • Two or more years' experience in manufacturing engineering with preferred experience on execution activities.

  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes required to support general assembly and testing of fuel cell systems.

  • High level of analytical and troubleshooting ability where issues are unique to the processes used for fuel cell manufacturing and testing.

  • Ability to create and present information to leadership, peers, customers and suppliers in a clear and concise manner.

  • Must function well in engineering team environment and have experience working with manufacturing engineering, and other engineering teams.

  • Organized with strong attention to detail.

  • Some travel may be required.

  • What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Prior experience with Fuel Cell Systems, electrification products, including High voltage systems.

  • Knowledge of Chemical processes and Fuel Cell technology.
