Volocopter

Flight Control Laws Engineer

Germany

Expired

We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the ground in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electric multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale VoloCity aircrafts (www. volocopter.com).

Your mission during this flight:

As a Flight Control Laws Engineer you will develop and tune the control algorithms and model-based software that runs on a real urban air mobility solution. You will design and implement safety-critical models and develop the software that controls and stabilizes our aircraft.

You are a Flight Control Laws Engineer well versed in the Model-Based Design (MBD) processes (modeling, requirements tracing, code generation, validation, verification, and testing). In addition, you are experienced in software development along the V-model and are therefore familiar with standards such as RTCA/DO-178C and DO-331. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you support the development process of the Flight Control Laws of the VoloCity.

  • You will design, document, and validate Flight Control Law algorithms using the MBD workflow. This includes: Modeling in Simulink, requirements tracing, code generation, validation, verification, and testing of the control software.
  • You will trace requirements, generate code, validate, verify and test the control software. You will interface with the software development team for integration of the Control Laws with other software components.
  • You will support development and maintenance of our MBD toolchain which follows Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) approach.
  • Check in your professional skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in software development with MBD
  • Excellent knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience with MathWorks Simulink MBD workflow/toolchain (e.g. Simulink Requirements, Simulink Test, Simulink Code Generation & Inspection, …)
  • Background in aviation software standards (RTCA/DO-178C and DO-331)
  • Experience with scripted CI/CD workflows is a plus
  • Structured way of working, high sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Preferred skills:

  • Experience with Control Systems Engineering, ideally for Flight Control
  • Software design experience and documentation, knowledge of C is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of legal basis for certification (SC-VTOL, CS23/25/27/29)
  • Work mode:

Some of our Volocopter flight perks:

    About the employer

We are mobility’s new dimension. What do we offer? A way to skip those traffic jams and get to your destination with time to spare. As the pioneer of urban air mobility (UAM), we will be launching the world’s first-ever eVTOL suite of services, replete with our signature passenger air taxis, heavy-lift cargo drones, and its very own ecosystem. As far as we’re concerned, the sky really is the only limit!

We always like to take things a step – or many steps – further. For instance, we’ve known ever since we built our very first prototype that it would be a game changer. And by consistently designing and producing our all-electric VoloCity air taxis and VoloDrones and the eVTOL ecosystem to match, we are poised to change mobility as we know it. And we’ll make every leg of your journey sustainable, too. Get ready for a new kind of urban lifestyle!
