  • About the position

    At La Trobe University, the Library Learning Services (LLS) team is responsible for proactively engaging with students to enhance their learning experience and facilitate their academic success through a range of online and face-to-face services, communications, and programs.

    The English Language Advisor is a member of the Library Learning Services team, dedicated to supporting students for whom English is an additional language as they transition to study in Australia. This role focuses on enhancing their English language proficiency, academic success, and overall university experience. This role also works collaboratively with the Academic Skills and Language Advisors, Senior Learning Librarians and Learning Librarians that comprise most of the team.

    Skills and Experience

    To be considered for this position, you will have

  • A postgraduate degree in any area relevant to the position (e.g., TESOL, Applied Linguistics, etc.; or extensive experience and expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Tertiary teaching experience in Australia, New Zealand or other English- speaking country.
  • Ability to provide specialist advice on effective methods and strategies for teaching English as an additional language in a tertiary environment.
  • Technical capacity to design and deliver effective workshops, asynchronous learning objects and other learning and teaching resources.
