General Role Overview
The Engineer, Parts Failure Analysis will work on-site alongside the Engineering and Production Partner and the resident Fisker team with the aim of supporting the launch and serial production of the Fisker Ocean. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding skills in analysis, critical thinking, root cause investigation, and risk management. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work cross-functionally and alongside external stakeholders.
Working within the organization, this role will report to the Senior Manager, Quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the processing of warranty part returns in conjunction with engineering part analysis.
Coordinate the retrieval of warranty parts from the field or from customer locations, collaborating with pertinent internal and external contacts.
Ensure parts are analyzed in a timely manner and facilitate and/or expedient the analysis process when needed.
Develop inspection and testing procedures of returned components and perform root cause analysis.
Conduct Mechanical and Electrical inspections and testing of returned warranty components to determine failure modes and corrective actions and distribute field information to facilitate tracking warranty and customer satisfaction concerns.
Work with Quality and Engineering on failure modes to perform root cause analysis and read across activities.
Ensure lessons learned are communicated and applied in controlled documents (e.g., Control Plans, DFMEA's, PFMEA's, Operator Instructions, Design Guidelines, etc.).
Support in creation of field documentation, manuals, and diagnostics fault trees, as needed.
Apply knowledge of Engineering and Manufacturing to drive containment and corrective action implementation into production, design, supplier, and/or firmware.
Prepare analyses and reports as necessary for internal and customer consumption.
Establish and lead reviews with cross-functional team members to address findings from analysis.
Manage resulting items to timely closure and statistically validate countermeasures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field. Master of Science is preferred.
Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in Quality / Warranty in the automotive sector, preferably with EV products.
At least 2 to 4 years of experience using QMS systems (e.g., VDA, IATF, Six Sigma, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Root Cause Analysis on parts within the Automotive industry.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the vehicle development process, milestones, and deliverables.
Self-motivated and self-starter with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Ability to form strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
Working knowledge of how to establish processes and standards within teams.
Ability to speak and write in both English and German.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
