Description

Responsibilities:

  • Be a member of the plant's Electrical Team - an integrated, technical organization consisting of members from Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality and Product Development organizations focused on problem solving the plant's top external and internal quality problems. Report to Vehicle Electrical Systems Manager.
  • Lead electrical troubleshooting efforts for the team, focusing on top- hitting EFTQ issues, using Red X statistical problem solving and strategy- based diagnostics.
  • Identify No Trouble Found items and work for resolution/VAA process issues feedback both inside the plant and at the engineering level utilizing the PRTS or SPPS systems
  • Create actionable items from electrical failures to enable issue documentation and follow up. Leads corrective action plans.
  • Complete required training at various sites around GM and suppliers. (Limited Travel maybe required in this role)
  • Support disconnect workshop during launch to develop database for repair faults (knowledge based repair systems) in GSIP.
  • Be the key contact for Final Process Repairman regarding training, troubleshooting vehicle issues, repair root cause entry into GSIP, Service Information schematic and other issues, Plant repair diagnostic tool (GDS2/MDI), and reporting systems. Coordinate training for repairmen on service diagnostic tools via other applicable companies.
  • Conduct training of vehicle electrical systems for Team Leaders so they can support their Team Members
  • Support any harness sequence racks, and lift assist flaws
  • Support VAA training on electrical follow the electrical BoO at the VAA's.
  • Support the JES and GSIP have matching terminology for repair and production operators by supplying standard language.
  • Learn new technologies associated with Electrical Architecture and effectively transfer key learnings to appropriate plant team members
  • Coordinate the collection of key learnings from plants
  • Basic Skills Required

  • Background or interest in working on vehicles
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly to translate highly complex technical issues to non-technical people
  • Self-motivated and innovative
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence
  • Must be willing to rotate shifts
  • Must be willing to support limited travel
  • What Gives You a Competitive Edge:

  • Minimum 3 years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems
  • Prior manufacturing plant experience in either Electrical or Plant Floor Operations
  • Experience Electrical Engineering
  • Supervisory role on plant floor, experience with managing UAW employees
  • Thorough knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements and how they impact the build process
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering

  • Preferred ASE certification or similar

  • Thorough working knowledge of GMS as well supporting BIQ4 Deliverables
