Offer Description

The postdoc's research activity will be focused on the study of the dynamical evolution of the globular clusters in the stages of their lifetime, in which they can be modelled as purely stellar system. The final goal is to produce a state-of-the-art low-redshift (z<2) cosmological N-body simulation zoomed-in onto a Milky-Way like halo with resolution high enough to include and resolve globular clusters. A preparatory study will consist in running idealized simulations of individual globular clusters, taking into account time-dependent tidal effects calibrated on existing self-consistent cosmological N-body simulations. In the first months of activity the postdoc will be also involved in setting up the initial conditions of the high-redshift (z>2) cosmological simulations and in their analysis, focusing on the collisionless component (stars and dark matter). The contract will be for 12 months, renewable for other 12 months.
