Description
The Director of Student Accounts manages the operations responsible for the
collection of all tuition and fee income.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS
Designs, implements, monitors and performs the billing and collection of
student receivables to ensure the prompt billing and timely collection of
payments due to the college for tuition and fees, process student requests
from the Dean of Students, and other miscellaneous student account
transactions.
Collects, reconciles, reports, and manages credit card and check payments
collected by the Student Accounts Department.
Establishes and maintains policies, procedures, and internal controls
related to the accounting of student receivables, and student payment
plans.
Collaborate with Director of Financial Planning and Analysis on pricing,
historical trends, and offer input on student billing and the impact to
tuition and fee revenue.
Create, edit, and monitor departmental communications; internal, external,
and on the website.
Continuously monitors, reports on and optimizes student tuition account
collection.
Oversees the development and implementation of payment plans for both
active and inactive students.
Monitors account management performance, establishes benchmarks, metrics,
and goals and provides periodic status reports as well as ad-hoc analyses
as required.
Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of external reporting obligations and
compliance requirements.
Develops unit strategic plan, assesses outcomes and formulates responses
to improve student revenue performance.
Facilitates seamless integration with Financial Aid, Accounting,
Registrar, Admissions and Student Services teams.
Promotes exceptional customer service to students and all customers,
including the timely, authoritative and professional response to all
inquiries.
Manages and reviews all student withdrawals and supervises fee adjustments
per institutional policy.
Apply, manage, and reconcile all financial aid made to student accounts.
Perform monthly reconciliation with the Financial Aid and Accounting
Departments.
Manages, updates, and edits all departmental software for the end users.
Represents the department and college at internal and external meetings,
trainings, conferences, etc.
Supervises one full time staff position and one student worker position
Develops and updates procedure manuals and other documentation as
required.
Work with 3rd party processor and IT to prepare 1098T's at year-end.
Maintain Direct Loan Parent/Plus loan list
Manage the Unclaimed Student Refund process
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university in accounting,
finance or business administration or comparable work experience required.
4+ years in a college setting in student accounts or financial aid.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service
orientation required.
Strong analytical skills required.
Qualified candidate must be proactive, self-managing, engaged, motivated,
act with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to
communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently.
Duties of position will be performed in an indoor, climate controlled
office environment.
