Profile

The Division of Psychology is seeking a Director for its highly regarded Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. Our program is dedicated to training the next generation of clinical psychologists who will be leaders in the field. The program provides students with a strong foundation in the science and practice of clinical psychology preparing them for careers as researchers, academics, and clinical practitioners.

The Director will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the program, as well as its academic and clinical components. The Director will play a key role in shaping the direction and quality of the program and work closely with faculty, staff and students to ensure its continued success. The Director will also be responsible for fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for all members of the program.

The specific clinical and research interests of the applicant and the needs of the department will determine the exact distribution of the remaining 50% time.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration and management of the program, including its academic and clinical components
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the program
  • Work closely with faculty and staff to ensure that the program remains at the forefront of clinical psychology training
  • Collaborate with other departments and institutions to promote interdisciplinary research and training opportunities
  • Represent the program to external stakeholders, including accrediting bodies and funding agencies
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of the program
  • Mentor and advise students as they progress through the program
  • Ensure that the program remains in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Stay current with developments in the field of clinical psychology and incorporate new knowledge and best practices into the program
  • Requirements:

  • A PhD in Clinical Psychology or equivalent in a related field
  • A record of scholarly achievement and expertise in clinical psychology
  • At least 5 years of experience in an academic or clinical setting
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusiveness
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring students
  • Eligibility for Texas Psychology License
