Reporting to the Executive Dean of SPGA, the Director will work with the wider SPGA community, its constituent departments and research centres, and City, University of London's annual Lord Mayor's Fellow. You will engage with the commercial and public sector policy communities in London and the wider UK and identify and exploit opportunities for collaboration, including in policy advocacy and advice, commissioned research, CPD activities, and raising philanthropic income for research and research studentships.Responsibilities
SPGA brings together world renowned social scientists working in three departments - Economics, Sociology and Criminology, and International Politics - and several affiliated centres, including the European Social Survey and the Violence and Society Centre. We have world class strengths in country, regional, and global intelligence about societies, cultures, states, and markets, as well as a significant and growing capacity in big data analysis. As Director of the Finsbury Institute, you will be working closely with internationally recognised experts in fields of research and practice closely aligned with the City of London and the communities it serves.Person Specification

City, University of London is a public research institution. Since the year 2016, it has been serving as the University of London's constituent college. Established in the year 1894, it used to be recognized as the Northampton Institute. It gained the status of a university when the royal charter created the City University in 1966. Known for its academic excellence, the institution shares a strong association with the City of London. Owing to its academic record, focus on business and professional and central location in the heart of London, the university attracts students from across the world.
The campus of the institution is situated in Central London along with other locations located in the City, Islington, West End, and East End. The university is home to five schools including the School of Health Sciences, School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering, Cass Business School, The City Law School and the School of Arts & Social Sciences. The academic structure of the institute is further completed by its Graduate School, the Department for Learning Enhancement & Development (LEaD) and interdisciplinary centres.
