An opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Skills and Accessibility team at Lancaster University within Information Systems Services (ISS) which provides IT services for staff and students at the University.

You will be responsible for the creation and delivery of IT training as well as supporting staff and students in their use of digital technologies. You will have a particular focus on supporting staff with their understanding of digital accessibility issues, and the creating of accessible resources. You will be required to use a variety of methods, including online, hybrid and in- person support. You will be developing and maintaining a wide range of resources and knowledge base articles as well as providing guidance to staff and students via our HelpCentre and 1:1 assistance.

The role will involve working as part of project teams, assisting with the roll out of new projects or updates to existing services, including development needs analysis, the creation and implementation of support plans, testing new features, identifying best practice.

You will have excellent digital skills, and understanding of digital accessibility legislation and assistive technologies, champion the creation of accessible content and have a commitment to personal development. You will also have recent experience in creating engaging learning resources and possess a confident manner when supporting individuals or groups.

The Digital Skills Accessibility Developer is a full time, indefinite posts. We particularly welcome applications from women and black and minority ethnic people for this role in order to increase our staff diversity in this part of the University.

    Established in 1964 by the Royal Charter, Lancaster University is amongst the leading research-intensive universities in the UK. There are two banks, a bakery, an ice-cream parlor, general stores and supermarkets, a beauty salon, and a post office on the university campus. Lancaster also has Chaplaincy Centre which houses prayer rooms with facilities for different faiths such as Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Islam, and Baha'i. Lancaster University provides university bus services making it convenient for the students and employees to commute. Further, the M6 motorway is only a five minutes' drive from the campus. It takes 10 minutes to drive to the West Coast Main Line that connects the city to London, Scotland, and Manchester.

    The academic structure of the university consists of undergraduate degree programs, postgraduate courses, research, and doctoral level programs. The acclaimed staff of the university guides the students into international level research centered on humanities, business subjects, natural sciences, modern languages, social sciences, and technology. Presently, the university has over 13,000 full-time students enrolled for first and higher degrees. There are 3,027 employees on the university campus including 1,323 faculty members.

Emily Fleeshman is a Hollywood actress, famous for her role of Nikki in popular TV show Still Open All Hours. Also, she is the founder of an acting school named ‘The Actors' Lab’ based in Salford. Satnam Rana is a news presenter on BBC. Some other noble laureates of the university are Roger Ashton-Griffiths (actor), Andrew Brooke Miller (Novelist), Catherine Jane Smith (a member of British Labour Party), Lucy Jane Briers (actor), Andy Serkis (actor and director), Bruce Sewell (former counsel of Apple).
