Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Coordinator of Regional Recruitment serves in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions within the division of Enrollment management and represents the university to prospective students, their families, campus constituents, community based organizations, high school, and community college counselors. This individual:

  • Develops and implements recruitment activities to meet enrollment goals.
  • Conducts a holistic review of freshman, transfer, and international applicants for admissions, scholarships, and special programs.
  • Residing in the Northeast Region (New York City, including the boroughs, or Connecticut), the Coordinator of Regional Recruitment is primarily responsible for:

  • Planning recruitment activities including high school and community college visits, college fairs, workshops, and yield events.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with high school counselors, community college counselors, and community based organizations.
  • Counseling prospective students and their families on the admissions process and enrollment steps.
  • Preparing statistical reports and analyses.
  • Engaging and training local alumni volunteer recruiters.
  • Partnering with the Alumni Association to execute successful recruitment and/or yield events.
  • Working irregular hours and traveling extensively on nights and weekends.
  • Traveling to campus several times a year for training and retreat activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned. Specifically in the summer, the coordinator will:

  • Conduct summer workshops within the area, and high touch college fairs within the regional areas
  • Conduct summer planning for fall, travel report work and research of high schools within the regional area and engage with alumni within the area during the summer for events (i.e., summer send off events, alumni programming, etc).
  • There is will is also an expectation of consistent, year-round inquiry management and interoffice communication.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

    Experience:

  • 2 years in admissions or admissions-related unit.
  • Experience with recruitment in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Exceptional ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and long-range planning skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand the needs and concerns of the college search and selection process.
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, deadline driven office.
  • Conditions of Employment:

  • This is a remote position. The candidate must live in the Northeast Region (New York City, including the boroughs, or Connecticut) of the United States.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Preferences:

    Preferences: Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently.
