Continuous Improvement Lead - General Assembly


On - Site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

The Role

As a Leader in Production, you will be responsible for implementing and executing the established business process for an area of greater complexity in the production operations while fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems.

In this position, you will support the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment and participate in training and developing of salaried and hourly employees, and in the development of highly effective teams.

You will support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas while helping to meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and utilizes resources to solve quality issues.

  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management

  • Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union

  • Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues

  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods

  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)

  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements

  • Additional Description

    Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement in industrial engineering, productivity industrial engineering, operations efficiency, and throughput improvement

  • Ability to work OT or off-shift as needed

  • What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Production or maintenance Group Leader Experience

  • Industrial Engineering experience

  • Manpower management experience

  • Experience with OpX, REDX, and or Green/Blackbelt training

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field

  • Experience with GMS
