OVERVIEW

The College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a clinical faculty position to support student academic excellence, inclusion, recruitment, and retention beginning in September 2023. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, leadership, and development of undergraduate student scholar programs (e.g., Aquinas Scholar Honors Program (Aquinas Scholars Aquinas Scholars – University of St. Thomas - Minnesota (stthomas.edu) and the NSF Science Discovery Scholar Program NSF Discovery Scholars Program College of Arts and Sciences University of St. Thomas (stthomas.edu)). The successful candidate will also be qualified to direct current programming and develop new programming for faculty mentoring focused on student recruitment and retention efforts for the College of Arts and Sciences (College of Arts and Sciences (stthomas.edu)) with a particular emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusive practices. In addition, the candidate will serve as a college liaison with academic advising and the Center for Student Success and will report to both the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Student Achievement. The person in this clinical faculty role will be expected to teach the equivalent of at least two courses in support of student scholar programs, our First-Year Experience program (First-Year Experience University of St. Thomas - Minnesota (stthomas.edu)) and/or within their discipline. The clinical faculty member will be able to propose curricula and will liaise with various programs across the university to encourage the development of curricula in support of student scholar programs.

Clinical faculty at the University of St. Thomas are qualified in a given field or discipline by having established records as accomplished practitioners or by having made significant contributions to the arts, sciences, or their profession. Clinical appointments are non-tenure track appointments that are subject to one-year renewals. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in student scholar programming and student mentoring, diversity, equity, and inclusive practices. Candidates with experience in the administration of student recruitment and retention efforts are strongly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD (U.S. or foreign equivalent degree); disciplinary specialty open, with a preference in an area represented by the College of Arts and Sciences (College of Arts and Sciences (stthomas.edu)); ABD will also be considered.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in student scholar programming, experience with academic program management and curricular assessment, and dedication to undergraduate student retention
