The post of Cleaner is a critical role in the Infrastructure Services Department, providing a frontline customer-facing service in an estate which is 250,000m2 of 107 buildings with an annual operational turnover of £23m.

This post is for 8 hours per week to be worked 4 hours on a Saturday and 4 Hours on a Sunday

It is an exciting time for the team as we drive improvements in compliance, customer service and performance as well as creating the opportunity to gain competitive advantages through our activity-underpinned by a significant investment in the Estate in conjunction with a full modernisation programme across the teams systems and processes.

Reporting to the Senior Facilities Supervisor, Cleaners will be part of a team delivering basic service provision. The postholder will be familiar with and understand effective procedures across a range of cleaning activities with relevant training provided as required.

Specifically, the postholder will:

Carry out daily, weekly and deep cleaning operations in Teaching rooms, Communal spaces, Toilet Facilities, and Meeting and Function rooms thus prompting good customer care.

Support the cleaning provision in our on-campus residencies.

Help to ensure efficiency of service.

Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines.

Provide cleaning and waste management services and work as part of a team.

Exemplary teamwork is critical to this role as is the ability to communicate with a wide range of staff, students and stakeholders. Working hours are variable depending on the service provided and current conditions but will typically be worked on a five out of seven-day basis with a flexible approach required to the actual working hours. The likely hours to be worked are 4 hours on a Saturday and 4 hours on a Sunday.
