OverviewWe are seeking an experienced attorney who will be responsible for Canoo's privacy programs and related activities across its business. The Chief Privacy Officer leads Canoo's Privacy Program in the ongoing implementation, coordination, and management of a comprehensive privacy program to meet state, federal, and international laws and regulations related to privacy. This role is accountable for continued operational development and oversight of Canoo's privacy programs, leads the organization's implementation of privacy program initiatives, and ensures that appropriate procedures are established and implemented to monitor organizational compliance. The Chief Privacy Officer develops strategies and leads a team of legal and privacy professionals to ensure the necessary day-to-day business support to achieve successful performance and results. This role requires a dynamic self-starter with strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and high ethical standards. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with broad responsibility.
ResponsibilitiesProvide subject matter expertise and advise groups on privacy risks; develop and implement solutions at the enterprise level that address and mitigate these risks
Work closely with the Data Privacy Counsel, Chief Information Officer, Chief Information Security Officer and other information security and privacy leaders across Canoo to ensure best practices in policies and procedures, incident response, and other security functions are coordinated relative to privacy
Provide key input to business leaders in scoping potential compliance and privacy program-related needs and opportunities related to new business initiatives and business acquisitions, including those that involve data management and reporting
Proactively identify and resolve privacy matters impacting Canoo
Lead complex investigations into privacy-related allegations and incidents, including cybersecurity events, forensic investigations, and breach notifications
