
About The Role
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic Sport & Fitness Assistants who will work within the fantastic facilities on campus which include a Sports Hall, Fitness suite, Exercise Studio and Outdoor Sports Pitch. The successful candidates will provide effective support in the efficient running and operations of all our facilities to ensure its users have a safe and enjoyable experience.
The Sports Centre on the Penryn Campus was completed in September 2016 and includes a 700sqm four-court sports hall, which is suitable for hire as a multi-use venue, a 150sqm fitness studio and a 350sqm gym with up to 90 stations, equipped by Pulse Fitness.
You will be involved in setting up equipment for bookings including exercise classes, various indoor / outdoor sports, bouncy castle parties and large events organised through the onsite events team. In addition, you will clean and maintain equipment, instruct, motivate and guide users to meet their full potential whilst using the Sports Fitness facilities.
About YouWe are looking for candidates who hold a nationally recognised level 2 gym instructor certificate, a flexible approach to working hours and relevant experience of working in a similar environment.

The sports centre is open all year round 7 days a week between 06:30 – 22:00. We are looking for candidates who are available to cover hours across the week to cover absence and special events when required.
Due to the nature of the role, you will also be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Check.

About the employer
Falmouth University is a multi-arts university in the south-west coastline of England in Cornwall. It is based across two campuses, one in Falmouth and the other in the close by town of Penryn. It was at first established in 1902 and later officially became a university in 2012. Apart from traditional fine art subjects, it currently offers degrees in advertising, architecture performance and marketing. In recent years, Falmouth has seen significant progress and investment where a new media centre has been established in 2017 covering photography and animation courses. Student guides train second or third-year students from each course. Each new undergraduate student has a student coach, acting as a friendly face and point of for any inquiry they may have during their first year at Falmouth. Course facilities incorporate performance and recording studios, proficient standard photography facilities, excellent computerized manufacturing technology and a TV studio and display.
Students can personally visit the employability group at both campuses for careers advice and guidance. Support incorporates help with finding part-time work while at college, placement and internship opportunities, advice with CVs, applications, interviews, freelance work and starting a business. Falmouth additionally offers opportunities to study or work abroad as a major aspect of a degree. The Erasmus and Study Abroad Group can support students in arranging this enhancing experience.
