About the Mount Royal University LibraryHoused in Riddell Library and Learning Centre, the Mount Royal University (MRU) Library is an integral part of the MRU academic experience. The services, facilities, programming, and expertise available in the Library support innovative teaching, learning, and scholarship across campus.
The Library includes the Archives and Special Collections, and a range of specialized and technology-enriched teaching and learning spaces, including information literacy classrooms, a Maker Studio, audio production rooms, and a range of visualization, simulation and immersive spaces.
About the RoleMRU Library seeks a casual staff member to assist with Copyright Office projects and resource development. The Library Aide - Copyright Office Support will support the development of the Copyright Literacy Strategy, assist in the development of copyright education and communication resources, assist with the implementation of copyright initiatives, and perform other project work as required. The successful candidate will work closely with the Copyright Advisor who provides education, training, and operational leadership to the University community on matters relating to the intersection of copyright and education.
The successful candidate will possess a high attention to detail as well as awareness of information design principles as they apply to communicating complex concepts in education and libraries. Knowledge of copyright and other intellectual property law is not a requirement, however the successful candidate will learn more about how these laws integrate into a post-secondary environment through their work in this role. A strong disciplinary background including upper-level coursework in communications (or a related discipline such as humanities, education, or business) is required. An understanding of research, information-seeking, and information organization is a strong asset.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and good judgement, the ability to clearly and positively communicate complex concepts in education and libraries, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
This role is a casual, limited term position with an end date of April 30, 2024. This position includes an average of approximately 14 hours of work per week over the 2024 Winter semester. Scheduling is flexible and may be arranged around course schedules making this an excellent opportunity for a student.
