ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES

· Receives money from students and departmental personnel; verifies amounts received, prepares cash receipts, and posts receipts to proper general ledger accounts.

· Acts as a liaison between students and Business Services regarding student accounts.

· Responds to in-person, phone and email inquiries and requests for account balances, account status and refund activities from students, while delivering excellent customer service to all constituents.

· Prepares all bank deposits and coordinates deposit pickup and delivery to the appropriate bank.

· Reconcile daily cash drawer balances to ensure that all cash receipts are accounted for and properly posted.

· Assist students in the execution of installment payment agreements.

· Assists students with refund selection status to ensure timely receipt of funds.

· Assists with general office duties as necessary including answering phone calls, assisting students with student account questions, filing, and scanning.

· Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager, Student Accounts Receivable

COMPETENCIES

· Experience using Microsoft Office standard programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).

· Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

· Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.

· Ability to perform mathematical calculations and accounting entries in an accurate manner.

· Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a customer service-oriented environment.

· Good communication skills, both oral and written to effectively communicate with TJC employees, students, and the general public.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Experience

Associates degree or combined equivalent education and work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

2-3 years cashiering

2-3 years working in a student facing education environment

EXPECTATIONS

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Will have contact – in person, by email, or by phone – with staff, students, and the general public.

· Must exhibit a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities.

Travel

Must have and maintain a current valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record
