The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Surgery is recruiting an Instructor. Applicant must have an MD or PhD with a minimum 2-3 years postdoctoral experience.

The ideal candidate includes energetic scientific creators, innovators, designers and engineers with outstanding people skills who can thrive in a diverse environment. The ideal candidate will be a Cancer molecular biologist with flexibility, lifetime learner, high emotional intelligence and strong drive for quality and productivity. The candidate will provide wet lab oversight, experimentation, and trainee coaching and mentoring. Standard techniques include organoid and stromal tissue culture, immunoblotting, IHC/IF, flow cytometry, and murine xenografting. We use primary colitis and colorectal cancer tissues to seek deeper understanding of the relationship between inflammation and cancer. The candidate will provide wet lab oversight, experimentation, and trainee coaching and mentoring. Standard techniques include organoid and stromal tissue culture, immunoblotting, IHC/IF, flow cytometry, and murine xenografting. We use primary colitis and colorectal cancer tissues to seek deeper understanding of the relationship between inflammation and cancer. We derive induced pluripotent stem cells to interrogate regenerative aspects of these diseases. We perform high-resolution analyses using single nuclear approaches, seeking to understand the contributions of an inflammatory stroma to the development of colorectal oncogenesis.
