In this Software Engineer role, you will develop scalable and performant backend services and systems for BrightDrop's new electrified last-mile delivery ecosystem. This role provides a unique opportunity where you will be working on the BrightDrop core software products, and contribute to the future of BrightDrop's system architecture, APIs, products, and customers. What you get to do in this role:

  • Build and launch new capabilities and products that bring significant value to customers internal and external

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable and performant services and systems to support BrightDrop's future

  • Help establish and influence engineering process, tools, and systems that will allow us to scale the code base, productivity, and the team

  • Work effectively with stakeholders across the organization including dependency engineering teams, product, design, infrastructure and operations

  • Additional Description

    Qualifications:

  • Have software development internship(s) or equivalent industry experience

  • Have a B.S. (or higher) in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Have a solid foundation in computer science and software development concepts.

  • Have a proven track record in writing high quality code that is tested thoroughly, supported by clear documentation.

  • Empathy with users internal and external, and a strong customer focus

  • Have effective collaboration and communication skills

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with minimum guidance and drive features or components throughout the development lifecycle

  • Experience in one of the JVM languages Java / Scala / Kotlin + SpringBoot. Language can be learned and we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework

  • Experience using NoSQL and relational DBs

  • Experience with IoT stack is a big plus

  • The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant in the California Bay Area which includes the following counties: Marin, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz might be paid in accordance with the California law.

    The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

    The annual salary range for this role is $87,900 - $ 140,400. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

    Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
