Duties and Responsibilities
Develops long and short-term strategic plans to complement college's
mission and goals.
Directs and coordinates student programs and initiatives for Arrupe
College, which are designed to assist and support students in achieving
academic and personal success.
Responsible for all policies related to Arrupe's compliance and Title IX.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Develops and coordinates policies and procedures relative to all student
activities; oversees annual production of community standards and other
documents.
Maintains a comprehensive student support/accountability system that
incorporates elements of care and accountability informed by Loyola's
Jesuit, Catholic mission.
Coordinates training and education for college staff and faculty
communities and external units to ensure proper understanding of and
connection to resources provided by the college.
Coordinates with campus constituencies and community leaders in developing
and managing co-curricular learning and support initiatives.
Works with the staff, student groups and other members of the college
community in developing co-curricular programming assuring integration
with the academic life of the institution and encouraging student personal
growth and development.
Helps establish a student culture where diversity is encouraged and where
students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their
actions, and exercise leadership.
Responds to student crises and provides information to and referrals for
students, faculty and staff on a variety of student-related issues.
Collaborates and consults with divisional and cross-campus colleagues to
assist with a wide range of programs, initiatives and events.
Coordinates and provides oversight, support and guidance for college's
special events, such as town hall meetings.
Attends student organization or college events as necessary (may include
nights and weekends).
Provides direction in the revision and maintenance of college-wide
publications & web-sites.
Manages the Arrupe Market, a food pantry in partnership with the Greater
Chicago Food Depository.
Directs the Arrupe On-Campus Living program to provide on-campus housing
for 20 Arrupe students.
Directs campus ministry and spirituality programming at Arrupe College,
including the sponsoring of at least 2 yearly retreats.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master's degree and four to seven years of progressively responsible
experience in higher education administration required; teaching experience
strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Knowledge of higher education policies, operations and procedures,
particularly with regard to student affairs/student development. The ideal
candidate will be conversant with group process and understand the role of
Jesuit higher education.
Excellent leadership and management skills. Budget management experience
preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and social justice.
Possess superior writing, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills,
and possess the ability to facilitate collaborative group processes that
gather the input of professionals, faculty members, and key college
administrators, all within a professional setting. The candidate will
possess superior organizational and analytical skills.
Knowledge of social service systems
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and
weekend hours as needed.

Computer Skills
Knowledge of Blackboard or similar electronic instruction format;
PeopleSoft, or similar university-based student data management system.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and email applications.
