Job Summary

The associate dean provides leadership and promotes academic excellence within Bethel's education programs, including those in teacher education, K-12 administration, and higher education leadership, through oversight of faculty and staff, program curricula, budget, internal and external partners, and accreditation processes. The associate dean is expected to lead in a visionary manner to prepare graduates who impact their communities, students, and schools in ways that matter for God's kingdom.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee education program leaders and staff including program directors; department chair; and teams focused on licensing, placement and partnerships, and data
  • Build a vision for Bethel's education programs that engages and develops faculty and staff
  • Ensure program quality. This includes ensuring quality curriculum in all education programs and overseeing student learning outcomes and assessment efforts
  • Serve as the Unit Leader for teacher education programs.
  • Coordinate, manage, and support processes and reporting for state accreditation related to education programs (Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board – PELSB, and the Board of School Administrators – BOSA) so that Bethel's programs remain in good standing
  • Oversee and advocate for budget and other resources for all education programs, including those in teacher education, K-12 administration, and higher education
  • Represent education programs to internal and external partners
  • Promote enrollment and retention efforts by working with program leaders, admissions, marketing, and student success staff
  • Lead in efforts of inclusive excellence

  • Five or more years of teaching experience at the college level and, preferably, has achieved the rank of at least associate professor
  • Three years of significant leadership within a college or university, preferably also including the following: experience as department chair or program director; experience in hiring, growing, and retaining diverse faculty and students; experience successfully applying for and achieving accreditation
  • Experience in a PK-12 system and/or participating in a successful PK-12 and higher education partnership

  • This is a half-time, 12-month position
  • Requires work on campus most days. Occasional work from home is possible
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed to complete responsibilities
