Assistant Site Utilities Manager

Description

The Assistant Site Utilities Manager has the general supervisory responsibility over a small to medium size group of employees engaged in the efficient and economical operation and maintenance of the powerhouse and for effective energy management. Work under general direction and exercise a high level of independent judgment in making decisions in a difficult and involved technical area.

Operations Management

  • Manage operations to provide reliable and cost effective utility services such as:
  • a. Compressed Air

    b. Chilled Water

    c. Steam

    d. Cooling Water

    e. D.I. Water

    f. City Water, Natural Gas and other misc. services

    Manage powerhouse and wastewater treatment operations

  • Comply with requirements of all environmental permits
  • Administer divisional and corporate policies including safety, housekeeping, ergonomics, reporting, etc.
  • Implement plans for equipment, process and operating efficiency, and preventative maintenance improvements
  • Maintain operating and environmental records
  • Communicate with customer and others outside of the powerhouse and wastewater treatment plant
  • Provide analysis of technical problems/utility interruptions and execute decisions to solve these problems
  • Assure employee health and safety compliance by conducting safety observation tour, completing pre-task plans and engaging the team
  • Communicate with the UAW and comply with the local and national labor agreements
  • Guide, train and direct hourly employees
  • Prepare budgets and implement cost controls review and take corrective action to ensure spending is within budget
  • Energy Management

  • Coordinate and drive energy conservation opportunities
  • Electrical Support

  • Provide electrical controls support for team
  • Assist with site wide Power Distribution switching, troubleshooting and repair coordination
  • Basic Required Skills

  • Knowledge of powerhouse operations
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment operations
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output
  • Skilled in use of computers and office software (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • PLC logic development and trouble shooting
  • Understand electrical one-line drawings
  • Education and/or Training

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Completion of recommended Corporate training programs
