The Greehey School of Business at St. Mary's University, a premier institution, invites applications for an assistant professor tenure-track position starting August 1, 2023. Candidates should hold or be near completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Business Law, Law, or a closely related area from an AACSB-accredited university or an ABA-accredited law school. ABD candidates with an expected completion date within one year of appointment will be considered.
The position is housed in the Department of Accounting in the Greehey School of Business. The Department serves three undergraduate majors: Accounting, Accounting and Data Analytics, and Business and Law. The Business and Law major is a relatively new undergraduate major in which students take a broad range of business and accounting courses and have the opportunity to take a limited number of classes at St. Mary's Law School.
The successful candidate should be able to teach across multiple instructional modalities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and in more than one of the following areas including accounting, business law, legal environment of business and/or closely related areas. Although not required, appropriate professional certifications are preferred. A commitment to service is expected including academic advising to students. Successful faculty members maintain a balanced portfolio of teaching, research, and service and are open to interaction with industry and the profession.
The Greehey School of Business is AACSB accredited. The undergraduate level offers a BBA with majors in Accounting, Accounting and Data Analytics, Business and Law, Finance and Risk Management, Management, Marketing, and International Business. The school offers an MBA for Professionals (MBA-P) at the graduate level. Class sizes are small with an average faculty-to- student ratio of 1:17. San Antonio is one of the top ten fastest-growing cities in the country with the San Antonio-Austin corridor described as the "New Major Metropolis" by major news media.
