Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Student Activities & the Student Center, the Assistant Director is responsible for the daily operation of the Student Center Office which includes oversight of the Switchboard, Welcome Center, and Game Room (staffed by student workers). The Student Activities Office is responsible for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of social and co-curricular programming and special events; coordination of student organizations; and the management of the Student Center building. The assistant director will work with the director to foster a sense of belonging among students and encourage student campus engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duty/Responsibility

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the Student Center Office which includes oversight of the Switchboard, Welcome Center, and Game Room which are staffed completely by student workers (responsible for hiring/supervising student workers).
  • Responsible for all campus wide email distribution from Announcements email.
  • Maintains and operates the Card Exchange software for student ID's and DataCard ID printer. Must develop proficiency with BankMobile Admin Support in order to assist students with ID activation and problems.
  • Coordinates the Homecoming Parade.
  • Assists the director with the planning and implementation of student activities and events.
  • Assists the director with fiscal oversight and budgeting of Welcome Week, Student Center, and Student Activities budgets.
  • Updates the campus events calendars and approves entries from other departments (must develop knowledge of Brightly calendar software).
  • Assists director in growing student organizations on campus. Tracks student organizations using ACCESS or other database software and updates website page.
  • Cross trains to learn Campus Mail Office and Fitness Center operations.
  • Schedules all events in the Student Center and works with custodial services for setup of events. Keeps Student Center calendar and Special Events calendar.
  • Maintains Student Center and Student Activities files.
  • Responsible for impress funds kept in the Student Center office and works with the State Auditors when on campus.

    Education/Knowledge

    Minimum Education Bachelor's

    Required Licenses/Certification

    Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred)

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from multiple constituencies, including but not limited to: students, parents, staff, faculty, administrators, vendors, and the general public
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Ability to work independently and some irregular hours during peak periods is required
  • Required Experience
