The Assistant Director of Marketing and Branding is responsible for enhancing the University's image by supporting university-wide integrated marketing campaigns and high-level university initiatives. The Assistant Director of Marketing and Branding oversees student Monarch brand ambassadors and involves students in ODU marketing projects. They ensure consistency of the ODU brand across various channels.

Masters Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of branding, marketing and communication tactics and strategies.
  • Working knowledge of advertising mediums, tactics, and operations.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
  • Some skill in using multimedia tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated skill in working effectively in a team setting to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement policies and procedures effectively within a decentralized setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with University departments, faculty, staff, and students and outside vendors, agencies and contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the web, news media and social networking sites for marketing purposes.
  • Knowledge of project research, creative brief development, messaging, and effective ideation for application across print and digital media.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Considerable professional experience in copywriting and development of creative content for marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Some knowledge of web accessibility standards and multimedia and HTML5 development processes.
  • Considerable experience with branding, marketing and communications in a professional setting.
  • Working experience in a marketing or desktop publishing environment
  • Project management experience
