ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES

· Assisting the head volleyball coach in coaching the intercollegiate volleyball team in a highly competitive NJCAA division I athletic program.

· Recruiting of student-athletes.

· Giving academic support and counseling to student-athletes.

· Assisting as needed drug education, counseling and testing.

COMPETENCIES

· Excellent oral and written communication, human relation, organizational, interpersonal and administration skills essential.

· Must be able to be independent, respect confidentiality, problem solving, and maintain courtesy in dealing with students, faculty, staff and visitors.

· Demonstrated leadership abilities.

· Must be committed to affirmative action, gender equity, and the academic success of the student-athletes

· Must have a desire and commitment to support the mission of the college.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Experience

· Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Education/Experience

· Three to five years' experience in a comparable position desired.

· College work experience preferred.

EXPECTATIONS

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Will have contact – in person, by email, or by phone – with staff, students, and the general public.

· Must exhibit a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities.

Travel

Must have and maintain a current valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record
