Job Summary

Kentucky Children's Hospital and the University of Kentucky are seeking to recruit a full-time BE/BC clinical pediatric Nephrologist with a broad interest in academic medicine. The position has a focus on clinical care and teaching with ample opportunity available for scholarly activities depending on interest The ideal candidate would join a vibrant and collaborative division of nephrology and would:

1. Be recruited at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level to the University of Kentucky

2. Demonstrate effective clinical service and teaching in pediatric Nephrology

3. Hold an MD, DO or MD/PhD or equivalent with a sustained record of excellent service

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Kentucky Children's Hospital (KCH) offers a full range of nephrology services including all modalities of dialysis: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, pheresis and CRRT. Clinical responsibilities will include all aspects of pediatric nephrology, with a focus on building and expanding our ESRD and renal transplant program.

The division currently has 2 full time and 1 part-time nephrologist and has the support of 3 clinical nurses (1 full-time, 2 part-time), a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, social work, dietician, as well as a dietician/research faculty with a background in nutritional science. The division staffs one of two licensed pediatric hemodialysis units in the state accredited for a total of number of 8 patients. The hospital has received continued UNOS accreditation in 2020 for Pediatric Kidney Transplantation as part of a combined Pediatric and Adult Transplant program.

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at KCH is an active member center of the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium (PRNC) and is participating in NIH supported research including CureGN, CKiD, GIGA, and others.

The Department of Pediatrics at KCH is committed to providing excellence in education, clinical care, and research. The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including training medical students and residents.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide outstanding clinical, quality and cost-effective care to children with renal diagnoses and diseases at the Kentucky Children's Hospital and the Kentucky Clinic. In addition to clinical care, the faculty member will participate in the education of our students, residents and extended medical community. Opportunities for the development of significant scholarly work in education, quality improvement, or clinical/translational research will be provided to the ideal candidate.

This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption.
