General Motors Subsystems – Assembly Operator

Assembly Operators are smart-working and ambitious workers who operate in a dynamic and fast-paced warehouse environment. Assembly Operators will use material handling equipment to load, unload, transfer and move materials within an assembly plant. Each Assembly Operator works within a team environment where Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles are highly integrated.

What You'll Do

Must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the essential knowledge, skill, ability and/or physical demands required. Additional or different requirements may exist in this role.

  • Use and operate equipment such as forklift or tugger to load, unload, transfer and move materials within an assembly plant. This equipment could operate at heights of up to 35 feet.

  • Understand, support and execute all work in a safe manner and contribute to a culture that promotes safety as its overriding priority.

  • Work with and select correct parts utilizing a computer system.

  • Inspect materials, products, and equipment in order to ensure detection of defects or malfunctions

  • Set up production equipment parameters to conform to process work standards

  • Perform daily lubrication checks, machine cleaning, maintenance, and error proofing

  • Maintain 5S and 3R standards

    These are full-time permanent positions working as a direct employee of General Motors Subsystems . You must be willing to work any shift, we are unable to guarantee a specific shift ahead of time. Overtime hours are common and may be available with little notice. Weekend and holiday (premium pay) shifts are regularly expected, but not continuously.

    Your abilities & skills (Required Qualifications)

  • Use and operate motorized equipment such as a forklift or tugger

  • Ability to work with rare-earth magnets

  • Experienced in measuring robotics and gages, as well as CMM machines

  • Possess physical stamina and coordination. You will be required to stand and/or walk for long periods daily, while frequently bending, twisting, reaching, and periodically lifting up to 40 pounds.

  • Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.

  • Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and appropriate shoes.

  • Work in a loud assembly plant environment.

  • Occasionally sit and climb stairs

  • Wages And Benefits:

  • Starting wage is $18.50 per hour with annual increases up to the max wage

  • Shift Premiums (2nd shift $0.25/hr. and 3rd shift $0.50/hr.)

  • Immediate health care for self and family (including dental and vision)

  • HSA card bonus for healthcare enrolment

  • Holiday and Vacation pay after 90 days

  • GM recognized holidays (approximately 15 per year)

  • 1 week vacation 1st year and additional accrual up to a max of 4 weeks with years worked

  • Eligible for annual profit-sharing bonus

  • Eligible for 401K contribution

  • Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include a four-panel drug screen and a background check. General Motors is a second chance employer.
