Description

The School of Nursing at Texas A&M University is seeking seven faculty members with experience in academic nursing education for part-time clinical instructors for the Bryan or Round Rock, Texas campuses. The primary responsibility for this position is the clinical education of our students in the clinical setting which are most frequently held on Thursdays and Fridays. This position will teach undergraduate BSN clinical courses. Applicants will be considered for the title of Clinical Instructor non-tenure track depending on experience and qualifications. The position is expected to have a 2.5-month appointment in the summer with a potential 4-month fall contract and begin on May 16, 2023.

The School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional, Second degree, and RN to BSN), MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN-Nursing Education, MSN-Forensic Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs. Future plans include a PhD program. We are a growing school within Texas A&M University with programs located in Bryan, Texas (primary location) and Round Rock, Texas.

Responsibilities include:

Clinical Instructor Track

All part-time faculty are expected to teach as their primary responsibility. Instruction in the school of nursing is complex, given the practice nature of the discipline, and includes content and clinical mastery. These expectations are broadly described as expectations to:

  • Develop new courses according to curriculum and accreditation standards.

  • Prepare course materials and examinations that are current, evaluated, and revised to improve student learning.

  • Teach effectively in the classroom, clinical settings, and/or online environment.
  • Select and manage quality clinical learning experiences in a variety of settings.
  • Provide competent clinical supervision of students.
  • Evaluate student performance effectively.
  • Advise and mentor students for academic success.
  • Maintain posted office hours.
  • Collaborate with and mentor faculty peers.
  • Maintain clinical currency and relevant certifications
  • The anticipated start date is May 16, 2023.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is required plus candidate must be currently enrolled in a master's nursing program and have earned a minimum of 50% of the required credits toward the master's degree in nursing.
  • Preferred Education:

  • Master of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Required Experience:

  • Experience teaching at the baccalaureate level or higher, is required.
  • Two or more years of recent nursing practice experience is required.
  • Preferred Experience:

  • Undergraduate clinical teaching experience.
  • Online teaching experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Community Health
  • Medical Surgical
  • Obstetrics
  • Pediatrics
  • Mental Health
  • Required Registrations, Certifications and Licenses:

  • Candidate must hold a current RN license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
