The Texas A&M University School of Nursing is accepting applications for a full-time, faculty position as the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Coordinator located in Bryan, Texas. Applicants will be considered for a tenured or clinical track (non-tenure) academic faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor depending on qualifications. The position will begin in August 2023 or sooner. The DNP Coordinator is a vital member of the executive council who provides faculty coordination and evaluation of the School of Nursing academic programs. The DNP coordinator role is essential for program quality and adherence to accreditation, regulatory and certification requirements.

This DNP coordinator role is an appointment filled by a ranked faculty member in the School of Nursing at Texas A&M University. The DNP Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean for Graduate Nursing Education in the School of Nursing. Program coordination and evaluation fits within the teaching component of a faculty position and includes assigned workload effort based on a number of factors that vary by the academic program, such as courses and credit hours, student and faculty numbers, as well as clinical education expectations.

The School of Nursing is one of five health science schools within the Texas A&M University Health Science Center. Drawing from our vast network of scientists, educators and clinical partners, we educate highly qualified graduates who are equipped to address the health needs of an ever-changing population in Texas, the nation and the world. While the School of Nursing is relatively new – established in 2008 – we are rapidly growing in academic program offerings and excellence in research, practice and education. The school offers three Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree tracks, Traditional, Second Degree and RN to BSN, and three Master of Science in Nursing degree specialties, MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN-Nursing Education and MSN- Forensic Nursing, and a DNP program. Planning for an innovative PhD program is on the horizon. The prelicensure BSN programs are located in Bryan, Texas as the primary campus location and Round Rock, Texas as a distant site location.

The School of Nursing is home to the Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing, earned the number 4 spot in the U.S. News & World Report's national rankings for best online bachelor's (RN-BSN) program in 2023 and was re-designated as a National League for Nursing (NLN) Center of Excellence in Nursing Education in Creating Environments that Enhance Student Learning and Professional Development. Within the last three fiscal years, research funding has more than quadrupled and our clinical partnerships continue to expand, surpassing 350 clinical partner sites across the state of Texas with more than 40 percent of the locations providing care in medically underserved areas. The baccalaureate degree programs in nursing and master's degree programs in nursing at Texas A&M University School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through December 31, 2030. The DNP program began in Fall 2022 and has a CCNE accreditation site visit scheduled for Spring 2024.

Job Responsibilities

Successful applicants will teach in the classroom and online, select and manage clinical learning experiences including clinical simulation, provide clinical supervision, advise students, prepare course materials and examinations, and evaluate student performance. Faculty serve the school and the profession and engage in scholarly activities. Faculty practice options are supported for APRNs and other clinical nursing roles as relevant. Program coordinators are responsible for activities related to curriculum, program evaluation, faculty, students, and both clinical and community partners.
